Guardianship and Conservatorship
Guardianship and conservatorship are legal tools designed to protect adults who can no longer make or communicate informed decisions on their own.
A guardianship allows a court‑appointed guardian to make personal decisions for an individual, such as choices about healthcare, living arrangements, and daily needs.
A conservatorship focuses on financial matters, giving a trusted person the authority to manage money, property, and assets on behalf of someone who is unable to do so safely. These processes are meant to ensure vulnerable adults receive the support, protection, and stability they need while preserving their rights as much as possible.

Probate
Probate is the legal process used to settle a person’s estate after they pass away. Through probate, the court validates the will (if one exists), appoints a personal representative, identifies and values assets, pays outstanding debts and taxes, and ensures the remaining property is distributed to the rightful heirs or beneficiaries. While probate can be straightforward, it can also become complex depending on the size of the estate and family circumstances. Having knowledgeable guidance helps make the process smoother and ensures your loved one’s wishes are honored.
